AIA 2017 Contract Documents - Insights and Impacts

AIA 2017 Contract Documents - Insights and Impacts

Friday, August 25, 2017 (8:30 AM - 11:00 AM) (EDT)

Description

The newly released documents at the heart of the AIA Contract Documents program -- the A201 Family of Agreements -- are revised on a 10-year cycle. The AIA Documents Committee strives to achieve fairness and balance in contract language and to build consensus among design-construction industry stakeholders: owners, architects, engineers and contractors.

This seminar will provide attendees with an insight into AIA’s revision process, as well as information about the revised Owner-Architect agreements and Architect-Consultant agreements. Andrew Mendelson, FAIA, a member of the AIA Documents Committee since 2003, will present during the program on updated contract language from business, legal and construction risk perspectives. The program will prepare participants to select appropriate AIA contracts for particular projects and client types, complexity and construction delivery methods, as well as evaluate the suitability of alternative contract terms. The new Sustainable Projects Exhibit will be introduced and highlights of the A201 General Conditions and Owner-Contractor agreements explained.

Speaker: Andrew Mendelson, FAIA, Senior Vice President, Chief Risk Management Officer
