ACEC Georgia Inclusion & Diversity Task Force

ACEC Georgia Inclusion & Diversity Task Force

Wednesday, September 22, 2021 (11:00 AM - 12:45 PM) (EDT)

Description

Join ACEC Georgia's Inclusion & Diversity Task Force and Chair, Emmanuella Myrthil, with HNTB for a dialogue honoring Hispanic Heritage Month!

Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures, and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was later expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to span a 30-day period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15. On August 15, 1988, it was enacted into law. September 15 is significant as it is the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September 18, respectively.

A few dynamic speakers will be joining us to share their experiences, traditions and explain cultural stereotypes. The conversations will help break down walls between cultures and build bridges between people.

Speakers Include:
Juan Duarte, PE, Associate, Kimley Horn
Antonio Inojal, PE Senior Associate, Stantec
Fabricio Ponce, Managing Director - Atlanta, VHB
