ANGELA R. YOUNG, Executive Director of Contracting Services (Procurement) for Fulton County Schools
Angela R. Young is the Executive Director of Contracting Services (Procurement) for Fulton County Schools, which is the fourth largest school district in Georgia. Over her 22 year procurement career, Angela has purchased over $1 billion in commodities and services, ranging from pencils to construction projects. Eighteen years of her career have been spent in the construction arena, from her start as a Senior Buyer with the Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County to her current position with Fulton County Schools. Angela has been involved with K-12 construction for 12 years. Her construction project experience includes abatement projects, demolition projects, new schools and buildings, school and building renovations, and school and building additons, to name a few.
In addition to the actual construction services procurement, Angela is also responsible for the procurement of the soft services associated with construction projects, including engineering, architectural, surveying, hazardous materials, geotechnical, environmental and inspection.
During her 10 years of leadership with the Fulton County Schools' Contracting Services Department, Angela's team has won the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award, from the National Purchasing Institute, for the last seven years and is a first-time winner of the Outstanding Agency Accreditation Achievement Award from the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing.
