    Job Description
    Position Overview:
    This position requires managing diversified general accounting/all general ledger functions and to supervise and support an Accounting Specialist, while directly reporting to the Accounting Manager.
    The position requires a dynamic, flexible and experienced leader. A results driven attitude is needed for this critical roll. The individual must have a strong track record of achieving goals and objectives in a timely manner with the ability to work on several tasks and projects at the same time.
    The focus of this position will be managing traditional accounting department responsibilities, ensuring the control and accuracy of a significant segment of accounting functions with strengths in cost accounting, billing and revenue recognition for a niche structural engineering firm.
    A combination of public and private company experience and consistent career growth will be strongly considered in evaluating the right candidate for this critical role.
    • Candidate can expect 6-12 months of high-touch immersive mentoring/training by Accounting Manager.
    • Assistant Accounting Manager has potential to move into management role once he/she is fully acclimated to all 3 companies’ accounting procedures.
    • Assistant Manager’s responsibilities will grow as company grows.
    • Provide effective leadership and support to the Accounting Specialist while meeting the Accounting Department Goals and Objectives
    • Complex project setups
      • Read contracts / extract accurate information
      • Make complex concepts easy and clear
      • Have full understanding in the variety of markets + clientele
    • Client billing
    • Accounts Payable
    • Use of subconsultants + 1099 employees
    • 401K administrator responsibilities
    • Reconciliations
      • Bank Statements
      • Credit Cards
      • Projects
    • Revenue Recognition
      • Understand company’s philosophy regarding revenue recognition
      • Create complex project-sided journal entries
      • Reconcile every single project.
      • Troubleshoot system errors.
    • Payroll
    • Accounts Receivables + Collections
    • Monthly Journal Entries + Balance Sheet Schedule Management
    • Financial reporting
      Skills and Background Needed to Succeed:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
    • Strong analytical, time management and organizational skills required
    • Advanced Ajera (or comparable project accounting software)
    • Advanced Excel
    • Minimum 5 years’ industry experience (engineering, architecture, interior design, or construction)
    • Clear understanding of chart of accounts + financial statements.
