  • October General Membership Meeting
    The October General Membership Meeting -- "Does Procuring K-12 Feel Like Climbing K2" -- was held on Tuesday, October 16 at the Georgian Club. Angela Young, Executive Director of Procurement with Fulton County Schools, spoke to a crowd of more than 60 people on opportunities with the district and how to better position a firm to earn work.

    2018-2019 Future Leaders Program: Session 2
    The second session of our 2018-2019 Future Leaders Program focused on the "Business of Engineering 101" and featured three panelists who spoke to accounting, profitability, HR considerations and sales/BD strategies. The session was held on October 9, 2018 at Monday Night Garage, and attendees stuck around afterward for beers, snacks and networking.

    2018-2019 Engineering Leadership Academy Kickoff Retreat
    We kicked-off our inaugural Engineering Leadership Academy with a retreat at Lake Lanier Islands Resort from September 27-29, 2018. ACEC Georgia's Engineering Leadership Academy is a nine-month intensive leadership development course designed for leadership-track employees who are experienced in managing projects and people and who are being considered for higher-level roles within their firm. The course is focused on expanding their perspective from the day-to-day, nuts-and-bolts of managing to the big picture, strategic-thinking required to lead a firm, department or practice area.

    2018 PAC Golf Tournament
    The 2018 ACEC Georgia PAC Golf Tournament was hosted on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Bear's Best Golf Club in Suwanee. More than 80 golfers, VIPs, engineering and legislative leaders joined us for a beautiful day on the course to help raise money for ACEC Georgia's Political Action Committee (PAC).

    Thirsty Third Thursday Hosted in Partnership with Aerotropolis Atlanta CIDs
    We were proud to host our September Thirsty Third Thursday with the Aerotropolis Atlanta CIDs on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at their office. This event brought together VIPs from across the metro Atlanta region and leaders from Georgia's engineering industry for a night of networking, snacks and drinks.

    2018-2019 Future Leaders Program Kick-Off

    The 2018-2019 ACEC Georgia Future Leaders Program kicked-off on September 18, 2018 with a session on DiSC, a personality assessment tool, and Braves game at SunTrust Park! The 55 participants in this year's sold-out class will spend the next nine months networking and growing their soft skills.

  • Augusta General Membership Meeting

    ACEC Georgia's Augusta General Membership Meeting, held on August 24, 2018 and sponsored by W. R. Toole Engineers, featured a panel of speakers focused on "Georgia's Cybersecurity Future."



  • 2018 ACEC Georgia PAC Leadership Circle Legislative Reception 

    This exclusive legislative reception for ACEC Georgia PAC Leadership Circle members and Georgia's U.S. representatives was held on August 9, 2018 at The Commerce Club in Atlanta, Ga. The event is a benefit for those who made individual contributions to the ACEC National PAC to help support the business of engineering and promote pro-business legislation at the federal level. 



  • 2018 Georgia Engineers Summer Conference

    The annual Georgia Engineers Summer Conference convened from June 7-10, 2018 at The Mills House in historic Charleston, South Carolina. With record attendance, the conference focused on providing "3 Cs" -- Clients, Content and Connections. Make plans to join us next year from June 6-9, 2019 at Walt Disney World Resort!



  • ACEC Georgia Structural Forum: Digital Design Mini-Symposium (Parts I & II)

    ACEC Georgia's Structural Forum, in partnership with AIA Atlanta and the Georgia Tech School of Architecture, hosted a two-part "Digital Design Mini-Symposium" event in May and June 2018. More than 60 people attended each event.

     

    Digital design, documentation and fabrication technologies are rapidly evolving, which will significantly alter the way building projects are delivered and the way in which we conceptualize design. During the program, attendees learned more about how this technology can help them be more creative and collaborative, as well as learning more about specific case studies - from small to large projects. 

     



  • 2017-2018 Future Leaders Program Graduation

    On May 1, 2018, more than 50 professionals graduated from the ACEC Georgia Future Leaders Program. Each graduate was honored during a reception, keynoted by General Dick Burleson with Neel-Schaffer. Founded in 1996 by former ACEC Georgia Executive Director Gwen Brandon, this 22-year-old initiative has helped to further the careers of some of the most talented and successful engineers in our industry. To learn more about the 2018-2019 Future Leaders Program, click here.


  • Thirsty Third Thursday - Gwinnett
    More than 75 people - both ACEC Georgia members and community leaders - joined us at Arena Tavern in Gwinnett County on April 19, 2018 for our Thirsty Third Thursday event.

  • Savannah General Membership Meeting

  • 2018 Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day

    Our second annual Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day, held on Saturday, March 10, was attended by more than 250 upper elementary and middle school age students. Firms and organizations from across Georgia's engineering community participated in the half-day program held at Kennesaw State University's Marietta campus, which featured over 30 different booths and team trivia bowl. Angela Fanney, a engineer with Kimley-Horn, kicked-off the event with an inspirational talk. 



  • 2018 Georgia Engineering Awards

    Held on February 24, 2018 at the Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead, the second annual Georgia Engineering Awards celebrated exceptional engineers, engineering projects and the achievements of the industry as a whole. Attended by more than 500 industry, business and elected/appointed leaders, the black-tie event honored individuals, firms and projects, including ACEC Georgia's Engineering Excellence Award winners and GSPE's Engineer of the Year winners. Learn more here



  • 2018 Building Georgia Legislative Day

    For 19 years, ACEC Georgia and the Associated General Contractors of Georgia have hosted a joint legislative day for the engineering and contractor industries. This year featured speakers: Georgia Rep. Kevin Tanner and Georgia Sen. Lindsey Tippins.

  • Macon General Membership Meeting: Republican Secretary of State Candidates Forum

    ACEC Georgia hosted a General Membership Meeting in Macon on November 14, 2018 with all four of the Republican candidates running for Georgia's Secretary of State position.

    2017 Georgia Transportation Summit

    Nearly 1,200 of Georgia's engineering, transportation, business and community leaders gathered on Friday, October 20, 2017 at the Cobb Galleria Center in Cobb County, Ga. for the 23rd annual Georgia Transportation Summit, held in partnership with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), Georgia Chamber of Commerce and Georgia Transportation Alliance. Featured speakers included U.S. Congressman Drew Ferguson, U.S. Congressman Rob Woodall, GDOT Commissioner Russell McMurry and GDOT Chief Engineer Meg Pirkle, among others. The winners of the 2017 GPTQ Preconstruction Design Awards were also announced and honored during the annual event.
